Privacy in Orbit

Last updated: October 2026

This page explains what happens to personal information when you visit Some Distant Galaxy or write to us. In brief: hardly anything. We built the site to collect as close to nothing as possible.

A static magazine

Some Distant Galaxy is a collection of pre-built pages. There are no user accounts, no comment boxes, no logins and no shopping baskets. Every article is open to read without sharing a single detail about yourself.

No analytics, advertising or tracking

We do not run analytics tools, advertising networks, tracking pixels, social media widgets or fingerprinting scripts. We do not build visitor profiles, and we do not sell or rent data to anyone, because we do not gather data that could be sold.

Your cookie choice

When you answer the cookie notice, your choice is saved in your browser's local storage so the notice does not keep reappearing. That entry stays on your device, is never sent to us and contains no personal details. Wiping the stored data for somedistantgalaxy.com in your browser settings erases that entry on the spot. More detail is on Cookies Explained Simply.

Hosting logs

Like almost every website, our pages are delivered by a hosting provider whose servers may record technical information when a page is requested, such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time of the request. These logs are used to keep the service secure and working, are kept for a limited period and are not used by us to identify or profile visitors.

When you email us

If you write to write@somedistantgalaxy.com, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you choose to write. We use this only to reply and to keep a record of the conversation. Writing to us never signs you up for anything. Correspondence is deleted when it is no longer needed, unless you ask us to remove it sooner.

Your rights

If you are in the European Union, the United Kingdom or another place with similar laws, you have rights over personal data held about you. These include the right to:

  • request a copy of any personal information we keep about you;
  • have inaccurate information corrected;
  • ask us to delete your information;
  • object to or restrict how it is used;
  • raise a concern with the supervisory authority for data protection in your own country.

Realistically, the one piece of personal data we might hold is an email you wrote to us. To use any of these rights, write to the address above and we will respond within the time the law requires.

Children

This magazine is about gambling and is intended only for adults aged 18 and over. We never knowingly gather details from anyone under that age.

Changes

If the way the site works changes, for example if a new feature would involve handling data, we will update this page and the date at the top before the change takes effect. Questions about privacy can go through our contact page.
