Mission Control
Every flight needs a room full of people watching the instruments. Ours is much smaller, and the instruments are mostly paytables, bonus terms and betting slips, but the job is similar: keep an eye on the details so readers do not have to discover them the hard way.
Who we are
Some Distant Galaxy is put together by four writers using pen names: Bastian Morrowfield, Delphine Varga, Caspar Lune and Rosalind Quell. We come from different corners of the hobby. One of us has spent years playing slots on a phone during long commutes, another follows football markets every weekend, and two of us simply could not stop asking how these games are built. None of us is a licensed professional, and we never pretend to be.
What we do
We write explainers. Each article takes one idea, such as a type of bonus, a betting market or a feature inside a slot, and describes it in plain language from start to finish. Where an example helps, we use made-up numbers and say so. Where a rule varies between operators, we say that too, rather than guessing.
Our coverage spans five sections, from Casino Gambling to Play Smart. A typical piece is something like our guide to sticky and non-sticky bonuses: a narrow topic, explained carefully, with the questions worth asking before you opt in.
What we will not do
- Promise wins, recommend "systems" or describe any strategy as certain to work.
- Make up return figures, odds or statistics for slots and bets.
- Encourage anyone under 18 to gamble, or suggest that gambling can solve money problems.
- Tell you that a particular site or game is legal where you live. That is for you to check locally.
Our guiding stars
Three principles steer the editorial calendar. First, clarity before excitement: an article should leave you understanding something better, not just feeling eager to play. Second, honesty about the edge: every casino game and betting market is designed to favour the operator over time, and we say so. Third, respect for limits: entertainment is the whole point, and the moment play stops being fun is the moment to stop.
